Who Runs This Site
EuroTripCheck is built and maintained by Rahul Kurup, a software engineer and travel enthusiast based in Europe. After personally navigating the maze of ETIAS announcements, UK ETA launch dates, and Schengen rule changes while planning trips abroad, Rahul built EuroTripCheck to give other travelers a clear, trustworthy single source of truth — backed by official government data rather than travel-blog guesswork.
Our Mission
European travel requirements have changed significantly in recent years. The UK introduced its Electronic Travel Authorisation in 2024 and enforced it from February 2026. ETIAS — the Schengen Area's equivalent system — is launching in Q4 2026. Millions of travelers who previously needed nothing beyond a valid passport now need to apply for these authorizations before they fly.
Our mission is simple: help every eligible traveler understand exactly what they need, before they need it. Whether you're a US citizen planning a summer in France, an Australian backpacking through Spain, or a Japanese traveler heading to London, EuroTripCheck gives you personalized, up-to-date guidance without the jargon.
Data Sources
All information on this site is sourced exclusively from official government publications:
- • ETIAS: Official European Commission ETIAS portal (travel-europe.europa.eu) and Schengen Area official documentation
- • UK ETA: UK Government official guidance at GOV.UK/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
- • Schengen rules: European Commission Schengen Area official documentation and the 90/180-day rule guidance
We do not rely on secondary sources, travel blogs, or aggregator sites. When official guidance changes, we update our content as quickly as possible to reflect the most current requirements.
Editorial Standards
Every piece of factual content on EuroTripCheck is based on official government sources and was last fact-checked in April 2026. We review country-specific pages when official announcements indicate a change in requirements. Our tools — the Trip Readiness Checker and 90/180-day calculator — are built on the same official rules and are updated whenever those rules change.
